Continuing to cement its reputation as home to much of the world's best contemporary architecture and design, Shanghai has been chosen to host the third in a series of shows that already attract tens of thousands of visitors in London and Tokyo. The brand new event, 100% Design Shanghai, promises to display innovative products, new talents, and fresh inspiration to architecture and design when it is soft-launched both here and in London this summer.

The new show has two formidable acts to follow. In the UK, 100% Design has become one of the world's most important contemporary design exhibitions presenting the latest furniture, lighting, accessories, wall & floor coverings, textiles and kitchens & bathrooms. The number of exhibitors has more than trebled since its launch in 1995, and visitor numbers have also soared. In fact, it is the only interiors event in the UK that is tailor-made for the professional architect, specifier, interior designer and retailer, attracting over 35,000 visitors from some of the leading practices across the globe. Meanwhile, 100% Design Tokyo has received an overwhelming response from both the international and domestic design community since it debuted in 2005. It has now established itself as Japan’s premier contemporary interiors event, a meteoric rise that the Shanghai show is expected to echo.

Shanghai's vibrancy and atmosphere of modernity often blows away first time visitors and this must largely be attributed to the city's stunning architecture. Indeed visitors, residents, and design professionals alike appreciate the exquisite, innovative design, and constant developments that make this city so exciting and unique. Driving this creativity is Shanghai's burgeoning consumer industry. With incomes that have almost doubled since 1997, and 200 million people having entered a new consumer society, expenditure patterns are rapidly shifting from 'basic needs' towards 'personal luxuries'. Shanghai leads the trend and has built on its long-held cosmopolitan reputation to move into a radical new era of design. It therefore seems obvious that Shanghai should be a prime contender to be the third location of 100% Design. High-end designers have an insatiable demand for better quality products to recreate their visions. 100% Design Shanghai will provide them with a golden opportunity to find not only products, but also inspiration.

Just like its UK and Japanese counterparts, 100% Design Shanghai will not only be a forum for the freshest and most innovative design, it will also be the industry's networking platform, hosting a series of exciting activities to entertain and inform visitors. Participants will have the opportunity to increase their competitive edge by keeping abreast of the latest market information and benefiting from the experience of others. Visitors to the soft launch can attend the “IPR Metaphor” session to discuss intellectual property rights, a hot topic, offering advice on how they can be protected and actions implemented effectively. They will also be able to share the insights of a plethora of design luminaries at a session entitled "Meet the Stars" when internationally prominent celebrity designers and architects will be invited to discuss their work and inspirations.

Finally, the “Designer Power-Map” site visit programme will escort visitors from the 100% Design Shanghai show site to showrooms with outstanding product displays.

The soft launch of Shanghai’s 100% Design will be held in cooperation with International Home Décor and Design 2007, bringing a multidimensional and cutting edge angle to an already very exclusive event.
