Exclusive World Class Interior Design to be showcased in Shanghai

Plans for Shanghai’s International Home Décor and Design Show 2007 are now in full-swing, report organizers Reed Exhibitions and UBIFRANCE. From the 14th until the 16th of June, Shanghai Exhibition Centre will be transformed by displays of first-class brands in home design, elegant decorative products and tableware. Set to attract the high-end interior designers, boutiques, department stores, agents, importers and representatives of the hospitality and interior home decoration industry, who uphold Shanghai’s reputation as a vibrant and trend-setting city, the show promises to bring more international design to Shanghai than ever before.

In recent years, China’s high-end designers and emerging middle class have been insatiably demanding better quality products and more stylish design. Urban incomes have almost doubled since 1997 and 200 million Chinese have entered a new consumer society, shifting expenditure patterns from ‘basic needs’ towards ‘personal luxuries’. Organisers have risen to the challenge that this new market presents and are clearly relishing the opportunity. “We plan to serve high-end buyers by creating the biggest up-market home décor fair in Shanghai”, says Ms Josephine Lee, Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Shanghai adding that the original French-orientated show had proven the great potential for this market. (In fact, Reed as responsible for London and Tokyo’s ‘100% Design’, France’s ‘Maison and Objet’ and Italy’s ‘Macef”, visitors can definitely expect to be treated to a professional exhibition of global standing.)

Indeed, Shanghai Home Décor and Design is actually a third, greatly enhanced edition of an existing and very successful show. The original show, ‘France – des Maisons à Vivre’, was launched by the French Agency for Business Development (UBIFRANCE) in Beijing in 2005 and a second exhibition was successfully held in Shanghai in 2006. These events attracted more than 150 exhibitors and over 11,000 visitors between them. Visitor response was outstanding; both exhibitors and guests asked for a broader scope to the exhibition. In consequence, UBIFRANCE decided to team up with international heavyweight Reed to meet this demand by including not only French, but also other international companies and famous brands. Reed and UBIFRANCE are confident that this arrangement will allow them to keep pace with the Chinese retail market, which is set to increase from 6 trillion RMB this year to 30 trillion in 2015. They will offer the show’s esteemed visitors not only expansion, but also an exciting new concept.

Exclusivity and internationality are the watchwords of this year’s expanded event, Visitors will have an opportunity to view interior decoration and design, tableware, furniture, lighting and decorative objects, home textiles, kitchen and bathroom equipment. A strong advisory panel of industry experts will guarantee the high quality of the exhibition content upholding the event’s aim of showcasing up-market products from Europe, Japan and the US. Attendees may rest assured that only genuine brands will be on display and exhibitors can have confidence in their intellectual property rights with the organizers on hand to provide advice and support.

As China is the third largest consumer of luxury brands so trade will be brisk and anyone attending the store can expect to be in exclusive company. The show’s clientele will be select, and great efforts are being made with hosted buyer programmes and personal invitations to attract high-level visitors. More than 5,000 people are expected through the doors and every effort will be made to ensure that they get to see the latest and best interior decoration that the world has to offer.

The new show draws on the strength of both organizing partners to provide a brand new platform for a rapidly growing industry in China. The French Agency for Business Development’s event ‘France – des Maisons a Vivre’ will continue to form a key part of the exhibition by contributing classic French style and modern design. In addition, 100% Design London and Tokyo will team up with International Home Décor and Design to create an outstanding event for Shanghai in 2007.

International Home Décor and Design (incorporating France – Des Maisons à Vivre) will run from 14 – 16 June 2007 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.
